General Sources for Computing Research Papers

The following resources are free and available to anyone, except as noted.

Association for Computing Machinery (ACM)

ACM is an international professional association for people working in the information technology field. ACM publishes research, news and opinion in magazines, journals and conference proceedings. ACM's Digital Library contains articles, abstracts, reviews and bibliographic information from the association's publications.

Access: You must register to search the Digital Library. Access to full-text articles is pay-per-view or by subscription.

The Collection of Computer Science Bibliographies

University of Karlsruhe researcher Alf-Christian Achilles maintains a collection of about 1,200 computer science bibliographies. It contains more than a million references to journal articles, conference papers and technical reports in BibTeX format. 80,000-odd references link to electronic versions of the documents. Users can search for references to documents or links to individual bibliographies.

The Computing Research Repository (CoRR)

This joint repository for computing research papers was formed by ACM, the Los Alamos National Laboratory e-Print archive, and the Networked Computer Science Technical Reference Library (NCSTRL). CoRR's papers are classified according to both the CoRR subject list and the ACM Computing Classification System.

IEEE Computer Society

The IEEE Computer Society is a professional association and standards body that publishes a series of magazines and journals that are archived in its Digital Library.

Access: Although selected articles are available to all, the full Digital Library collection is available only to the society's members who purchase subscriptions.

Networked Computer Science Technical Reference Library (NCSTRL)

NCSTRL is an international collection of research reports and papers from computer science and engineering departments at universities.

Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM)

SIAM is a professional association that supports computer-related research and publishes a series of journals. The society maintains electronic versions of its journals.

Access: The society's journals are available by subscription only.
