Description:  This medical diagnostic CD works like a centrifuge. The fluids cross the optical sensor at the edge of the disk from the outermost reservoir inward. The size of the channels and the speed at which the disk spins determine how fast the fluids move. The pink and yellow fluids on the left provide a two-point calibration which keeps the optical sensor accurate.
